Bernice was born at Hahnemann Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa to Frank and Emma Saunders. She graduated from Kensington High School and studied at Temple University. Bernice was a busy woman; she was a clerical worker, a line cook, a manager, a mother, a confidant and a friend. Bernice found love and married George Phillips Sr on June 22, 1963. From this marriage she birthed two beautiful children; Angela and George Phillips Jr. After their separation, she birthed her third beautiful child, Omar Phillips. Bernice found love again with Frank Smith in 1982 and they remained together until his passing in March 2018. She enjoyed listening to music, dancing and singing. She loved to travel and learn. Bernice was an avid donator. She donated to St. Luke's Foundation, The Wish Foundation and the American Heart Association. Bernice is survived by her siblings; Michelle, Martin, Larry, Milton and Carolyn. Her children; Angela (Robbie) George Jr (Carthine/Diane), Omar (Scarlett); grandchildren Angelique, George III, Mark, Ashley, Shadaya, John, Sharon, Joshua (Brenna), Jacob, Maya and David. As well as her great grandchildren Ny'lah, Calvin, Sa'Nyala, Ha'nyla, Emoni, Olivia, Aria and Kitana. And a host of nieces and nephews
